Mazengarb Millie in Tasmania

Copyright morris-minor conversions

This article is about a well know Morris Minor Called Millie that has also been raced and used as a day to day car and lives in Tasmania.
Millie was purchased in February 1952 by Graeme White and was used as the only family car until the early 1990's when it needed some restoration and at the same time Graeme decided to use Millie for racing as well.
Millie was then entered for and competed in the Targa in 1993/94/95, then six months after competing in the 1995 race Graeme passed away and Millie was left to fend for herself. Some years later Wilf Alison who is a family friend then purchased Millie in 2002 and started on a full restoration to bring Millie back to her former glory.
Wilf had a few issues with the original Ram Tubes and twin carbs set-up that were used in racing and after trying to get the twin carb setup to run with and without the ram tubes he settled on a single 1 1/4" carb instead of the previous twin 1 1/8" which he found gave more or less the same performance.
As you can see Wilf restored Millie back to the original grey colour from the black that was used when Millie was raced, since then the Millie has gained a new owner in 2008 Harry Galea who has supplied me with some pictures of Millie racing and some press cuttings given to him by a friend Randall Langdon.
So Millie has now had only 3 owners in fifty seven years and all from the same area of Launceston and is probably the most well known Morris Minor in Tasmania.
